Take The Guesswork Out Of Wire Stripping

Confession time: I’ve never enjoyed electrical work. I can almost never get the wires stripped cleanly. I guess I just wasn’t blessed with the sparky touch, but for a car guy… working with wiring is almost inevitable.

A few months ago, I had an extension cord that may or may not have accidently had an end cut off in a hedge trimming incident. I decided to face my electrical nemesis, so I picked up a pair of Irwin’s Vice-Grip Self Adjusting Wire Strippers to see how they’d do.

These things took all of the guesswork of wire stripping right out. Just put the wire in the jaws and give it a squeeze. The jaws close down to hold the wire in place while it pulls off the wire insulation. They also have crimpers on the inside of the handles, and the handles themselves are comfortable and easy to grip. I’m not quite ready to rewire a car just yet, but I definitely feel more confident about the wire stripping part!
